Or maybe I just completely misunderstood what the problem is. Or maybe the OP's hand is so much faster than mine it happens to make accidental connections much more likely (I mean, I get one accident per hundred lines, if that). I dunno, sure seems like I can cram those lines almost touching without an accident, though. Maybe my eyes are so old that I automatically zoom in a little more if I'm going to be putting things close together, and that makes it less likely I'll connect a start node to a previous line. The sample drawing the OP gave didn't really look like start/end nodes where that close together. Each brush was created with great texture and use of color. It starts with a simple example of creating an 'inked'. A collection of thick, multi-colored Adobe Illustrator brushes made for many concepts. I could snap to the previous line if I wanted to, but I had to work at it. ![]() ![]() ![]() So, I turned off "Use pressure input", set Shape to "None" and tried drawing with the Pencil tool. OTOH, I definitely have drawn hair with pressure sensitivity off and don't recall this being an issue. Lot of subtle decisions crammed into the Pencil tool. From the Pen Tools menu, select the Freeform Pen tool. Ah, so that's one reason I never have the problem, since that's probably my most common drawing mode. Use the Freeform Pen tool to draw freehand and anchor points will automatically appear. The Pen Tool is one of Illustrators important sketching tools, which helps produce both accurate and freehand artwork. I tried to understand why.įirst, it seems like when "Use pressure input" is selected, it's simply not possible to connect one line to the previous line. How puzzling that I never have this problem (Windows 10, pressure-sensitive tablet, Inkscape 1.0.1, pencil tool) even though I do plenty fine hatch work lately.
